Scotland’s Classic Southwest
Scotland’s Classic Southwest serves up a feast of Open courses that include Turnberry, Royal Troon, Prestwick and the outstanding course at Machrihanish. Turnberry represents manicured links golf at its best and will host the Open in 2009. Royal Troon is a classic links requiring imagination, where the golfer is eased into the challenge with each hole progressively tougher.
The “Postage Stamp” 7th is the shortest Par 3 in the Open rota, it’s Coffin bunker gives every golfer food for thought! Western Gailes’ narrow fairways demand accurate tee shots, the course presents an excellent test of skill, patience and concentration. Protected by the meandering waters of “Pow Burn”, Prestwick boasts a unique array of holes and when the wind rolls in from the Firth of Clyde, golfers would be well advised to lower their aspirations. Renowned as a top venue, Macrihanish possesses all the traits expected by the links purist. Your drive on the first tee is over a bay on the Mull of Kintyre!
